Business Matters

CDS by laws govern our chapter and require yearly elections in which voting board members are elected by the chapter membership. Our fall ballot is similar to the CDS Central election ballot. Members vote for up to seven candidates. The candidates with the most votes get seated on the board.

The board then appoints its chair and vice chair persons for the year. A three-member nominating committee of members, not currently serving on the board, coordinates the candidates for the new board. Members wishing to serve on the nominating committee should contact our board secretary, Vicki Dayka at (805)682-4189 or jvdayka@silcom.com before August 1, 2007.

Our Board members serve for one year, but a re-elected board member may serve for more than one term.

If you are interested in becoming a member of Santa Barbara CDS, please join the California Dressage Society (CDS). Here is the Application Form. Remember to request Santa Barbra CDS as your local chapter. In case you wondered, your CDS dues don't benefit our chapter. We are an all volunteer organization and produce our own income from Dressage Shows. 
 

Chapter members are welcome to attend our open board meetings. They are normally held the first Tuesday evening of the month. The location varies as we sometimes meet in the homes of our board members.  If you have ideas and suggestions to improve our Chapter, you are encouraged to share them with the board.

Our meetings are conducted in accordance with Roberts Rules, a highly abbreviated version is herewith presented.
