The California Dressage Society, formed in 1967,
is a non-profit organization to further the interest in the
equestrian sport called Dressage. It is now one of the largest
dressage organizations in the nation with more than 4,800
individual members in its 36 Chapters.
The Santa Barbara chapter has operated independently under a
CDS-approved set of By-laws since the early 80's.
Governed by a board of dedicated volunteers, which are responsible for the
development and production of shows, educational and social
events.

Our Board of
Directors strives to support and encourage riders, and
enthusiasts alike by way of educational clinics, workshops, and
the production of three 4STAR shows annually at the renowned
Earl Warren Showground's. Together with insight from the
membership the Board develops events that unit the members and
their guests for social, educational and event travel
expeditions to support the goals and aspirations of it's members
Santa
Barbara
Unique with it's
backdrop of majestic mountains at nearly 3,000 feet with the
tendrils of it's shores reaching to the blue of the Pacific
Ocean. Members enjoy walking and gallops on the beach as well as
foothill trails and climate conditions Easterners can only dream
of. The community of membership encompasses riders, owners,
and enthusiasts from as far north as Shell Beach and Arroyo
Grande, a few from Buellton, Solvang, Santa Ynez, and Los Olivos,
residents of Goleta, and Montecito and south a bit to Carpinteria, and
Oxnard. Distant members include Sedona, AZ and Boca Raton,
Florida
Annual
Events
You can always count
on fun social gatherings annually, including the Annual Meeting
and dinner at the end of the year featuring the SB CDS
Championship Awards Series finalists, traditionally held in
early December. The Chapter works to bring clinicians to
their membership that will bring the most educational
opportunities for many. SB CDS's volunteer base consists
of approximately 12-17 tireless members who keep the boat afloat
for the good of many. These folks bring their wisdom,
education, and talents to help and assist the board in their
pursuit to support the membership and their objectives.
Consistent annually have been the support of three rated shows,
along with a sister show in November.
